Art & Craft Workshop, Singapore Children’s Society
A few days before National Day 2018, a group of us from DOT (Designers of Tomorrow) went to Singapore Children Society to help out with an Art & Craft Workshop where they designed and created a card for their loved ones.
Overseas Immersion Programme to Beijing
At the end of my year 1, I joined my classmates to Beijing for a 3 weeks Overseas Immersion Programme. My stay in Beijing had been really fruitful and enjoyable. Not only were we given lessons on Chinese culture and history, including their tourist spot, but we also get to learn about business in China which could be greatly useful to us should we be interested in setting up a business or working in China in the future.
Through living alongside the locals, and interacting with them, we got the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the local culture in China fully. A truly unique and memorable experience that researching on googles and books can never provide to us. Additionally, we also visited a 'Old folk home' and accompanied the elderly there. We chatted with them, played puzzles, throw-the-hoop, and performed.
Overall, this programme has considerably deepened my appreciation and knowledge of Chinese language and culture itself. It also helped to raise our global awareness and provided us with the opportunity to develop our cross-cultural skills and sensitiveness.
