Logo || DE

Designed a logo for my polytechnic school, Design & Environment (DE). This was a logo competition hosted in my cohort whereby the selected logo will be printed on souvenirs for potential DE students and t-shirt for staff and students during official duties or events.

Concept:

As DE is a school that comprises 4 different courses (PDI, SDE, HLFM and REB) under 2 categories, my concept of the logo for the school is to tell the story that Design and Environment is a whole, a family.

In an attempt to tell the story through the logo, while still making it seems fun and intriguing, I decided to merge the "d" and "e" together. Additionally, I incorporated the concept of exclamation mark into the logo by adding a shadow below. Exclamation mark is typically used to show excitement and loudness in text, this implies that DE is a school that is capable of providing such excitement to its students and staffs.

The merging of "d" and "e" also tells the story that DE actually comprises 2 categories as its name states. Many always call our school a "Design school", hence some of them have a misconception about DE only being a Design school, but little did they know that there are actually management and business courses related to environment in DE, such as REB and HLFM.

During the presentation, this design had successfully amused the audience when they first saw the logo. As intended, most of them saw the "d" first, however, after a quick moment, they then noticed the second initial. This realization brought fun and laughter to them, in which enables the logo to remain memorable and appealing throughout, and became one of the most well-liked due to its seemingly "conspiracy" concept.
