Design Brief:
To design a smart bin system for rubbish and recyclable items to replace the current rubbish bins at Block 34 (Ngee Ann Polytechnic's School of Design and Environment).

Target Audience: Cleaners and users (students, staff and visitors)
Problems Tackled:
• Having to pull out the bag vertically to clear
- Inconvenient
• Having to use the tong to reach the bottom of the bin
- To grab spilled out rubbish - To spread out the bag inside when replacing - Unhygienic
• Liquid and food waste spills
- Hard to clean
- Attracts pests
- Odour
• Overflow Bins
- Rubbish being stacked up
• Lack of Awareness
- Unsure of what can be recycled, what can’t be
- Finds it troublesome to recycle due to the process
How might we:
Cleaners - How might we make the clearing of bins more efficient and convenient
Users - How might we encourage recycling and proper usage of bin?
